Option 1 for Final Project: Creative Project with Artist’s Statement

Option 1: Creative Final Project with Artist’s Statement

Creative Project

Use digital tools to complete a creative project. Like previous assignment, the form of the project is completely up to you. Unlike the previous assignment, the project is more open-ended and does not need to make a specific critique or argument. However, it should still be related to aspects of our course material.

The project should either be embedded into a blog post or should be linked to your post. If it is not something that will reside online, please talk to me about how to turn it in.

Since this is not a production-centered course, this part of the assignment will be graded on effort and creativity, not how polished the end result is. Again, I encourage you to learn something new and experiment with media.

See the Creative Examples page for previous students’ creative work for examples and ideas. Also, see this Tools page for links to ideas, free software, and creative software that Emory has.

Artist’s Statement

Write an essay of at least 1500 words describing your project, the process of completing it, and how it demonstrates concepts from our class. Make sure to include the following:

  • a detailed description of the project and your process of making it (what software you used, what you did, etc.)
  • a discussion of at least two readings from our syllabus and how they relate to your project
  • at least one relevant quotation from each reading
