The Kardashians managed to do it again. Kylie monopolized media attention on one of the most important days of the year, SuperBowl Sunday. Jenner announced on February 4th that she gave birth to a baby girl with her rapper boyfriend Travis Scott after months of speculation. The New York Times reported that Kylie’s news was the top trending news, surpassing anything related to Superbowl Sunday, including the Philadelphia Eagles winning their first Superbowl.
Kylie’s news is surprising in many ways. While it has been speculated that she was pregnant since September, Kylie has avoided media attention entirely. She released a few hints about her pregnancy along the way, but nothing to entirely confirm the news. These actions were due to ensure Kylie’s healthy mental state, as she discussed in her Instagram describing the situation.
However, the Kardashians typically announce their big news revelations on their show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, which is where proposals, babies, marriages, and more are shown to let viewers into the lives of all members of the Kardashian Klan. Kylie instead decided to make her announcements on her Instagram to make the news instantly be confirmed to her fans, instead of waiting a couple of more months in hiding to reveal her birth of her child on the show. Kylie has established herself as a media mogul through her make-up brand Kylie Cosmetics and her labeling of herself as “King Kylie” of Snapchat. Therefore, it is shocking that Kylie has kept the media at bay for so long and has actually increased her media attention through the long-awaited confirmation of her child.
