For my final project, I am interested in how news consumption has changed in recent years and the positive and negative effects these changes will have in the future. For example, information can now be published much faster than it could in the past. This means audiences are informed more frequently and immediately, but mistakes are also spread at that same speed. Specifically, I am interested in what effect social media has on how younger generations consume news and how that will continue to effect the generations to come. I am also interested in exploring how people around the world consume news differently and the societal effects that follow those differences. I am hoping to learn about the reliability of newer news outlets and the longevity of more traditional sources. I hope I can use published data to explain the audiences of different news organizations and other research to discuss those findings. Also, by keeping up with different news outlets and social media, I can observe some of the distinctions between traditional and non-traditional sources for myself.
